Quantum House - Golf Day Shoot
As a golfer, I get asked to shoot golf days often and I always like the idea of getting something different and I think most of the golfers in the North East now maybe haven’t had something different, because they’re being shot by me.
But for the last few golf days I’ve done, whether that’s for Grace House, Quantum, or Red Sky Foundation, I try and get pictures of the golfers actually playing golf. I know that sounds a silly thing to say, but I’ve seen a lot of pictures of golf days in the past, where it’s either stood on a tee, smiling at the camera, which we do as well, but also I set up another camera usually behind a tree, because, you know, I do trust golfers more than most do, but I don’t trust them that much! And there’s certainly, at Ramside, where I shoot a lot of these, there’s a perfect tree that I can set my camera up, so it pokes through the tree and people are confident that they’re not going to hit me, because there’s a big tree in the way, which is great. And I get to them to actually hit the ball, get the ball at impact. It was a little bit more tricky on the first at Slaley, there’s less trees to hide behind next to that first tee and a wall, so I ended up with a bramble up my behind and scratching my hand on a wall, but we still got the cool shots and everybody was happy and it’s all great.
Quantum are a big local employer and it was great to be part of their golf day that brought all their team together from all over the place and everybody had lots and lots of fun and as a golf day, it was a fantastic experience to be part of.
It was one of the more recent ones I’ve done in Slaley Hall, where I was a member for a lot of years, I know the course very well. My Dad worked there in the 90s and I’ve got a lot of affiliation with the course, so it was great to be able to shoot them teeing off, in my world the 10th tee, but nowadays the first – it’s amazing how swapping them things around screws up my head! As a golfer, you know a course as it’s laid out and then they go and change it and it’s all a little bit confusing, but Quantum are a fantastic company and it was great working with them and the smiles and happy faces on and off the course, even after some of them had some interesting scores, is just great to see.
So fingers crossed I’ll get a shoot for them again in the summer, when it’s a nice sunny day.
