Go North East - Apprentice Week BTS

So if somebody said ‘Go North East’ to me now, I know most of you would think of buses and getting from A to B – for me it’s slightly different!

Not because I don’t use the bus, more so that if somebody says ‘Go North East,’ I smile and think of crocodiles, massive sandwiches, apprentices under buses, the Toon Tour Bus. I go back to the client work I’ve done for them recently and yes there has been crocodiles, yes there has been massive sandwiches and that will all become clear, further down the line, when I get on site to take the pictures of the end result of that shoot, whereas at the moment, we’re still waiting for those to come through. So, there’s a bit of a media blackout on that one at the moment, but once they come live, we’ll get them out there.

But it’s so much fun working for Go North East and Laura and the team are just fantastic and so accommodating on shoots and encouraging their drivers to get involved. And I’ve never quite seen as many bus drivers and trainee bus drivers in yellow hoodies and sunglasses than I’ve ever seen before. And now when I’m driving around, when I see one of the trainee buses, it’s always really fun to see.

This shoot was part of the recent Apprenticeship Week. Obviously, Go North East have apprentices across all the departments in the wider company and this time we focussed on four or five of the ones that were in the workshop. Because again, it’s that bit that people don’t see. Everybody sees the bus driver, everybody sees the call centre side of things in a way, but they don’t necessarily see where the buses are getting fixed and the guys learning their trade underneath the bus is a very strange concept. To see people lumbering around with lights and stuff under a massive vehicle, up on stilts; it’s just great.

There’s more to come on Go North East and I can’t wait to share them. Ironically, as I’m walking along now, there goes a Go North East bus, bus driver in training, there you go, what are the chances of that, eh?! There we go.
