Catapult - Showcase Shoot

When Catapult got in touch last year, I wasn’t expecting to be necessarily involved in as many projects as I have been. I think we’re on number four now of case studies and promo pieces on projects that they’re supporting at the moment and the variety of work that they support is just fantastic. This one was really interesting; her name was Ruth, and this project was based out of the North East but kind of had a global impact. And it was about pulling together, I don’t know if it’s classed as big data or small data, I don’t understand the terminology fully, but it’s pulling together data on people’s perceptions of big infrastructure projects.

So in this case, it’s the A1, where if you’re in the North East, you’ll know that the A1 around the Angel is having some significant works at the moment and has been for a significant amount of time and will be for a significant more amount of time. I think it’s just going to go on forever. But it’s that sort of information that they’re pulling together from surveys and other bits and social media and feedback directly to the agencies and stuff and pulls all that data together to kind of give a steer on things and using AI to pull all this together.

It was fascinating speaking to Ruth and from a photo’s perspective, it was really cool to be shooting both at the office and also out on the A1 and reacting to some interesting weather conditions, as in it was ridiculously bright and sunny, which is not something we’ve had for quite some time, it feels like. So this shoot was really good fun to be part of and certainly an enjoyable one and roll on the next one from Catapult that no doubt will add to the intrigue and the fun of these showcase shoots.
