Building Connections on the Golf Course

It’s funny… I was sat in a carpark, just about to get all my equipment out of the car for my next shoot, (Pardoe Wray, which you can see the pictures from here). And I think, it’s another one of those FORE Business kind of days.
So, I’m sat wearing my Stu Redshaw Trust Red new branded attire. I’m going into Pardoe Wray, Nathan Pardoe’s business, to do his headshots, having just taken a call from my accountant, Rob Hurren. I’ve just finished some stuff on my laptop with IT support provided by Unite Group, Paul Sykes. And also typing in a couple of notes onto my HubSpot system that has been set up and supported by Kevin Maddison of Root Cause Consultancy. And that’s just the quick ones off the top of my head.

FORE Business has been a wraparound for me for quite a while now and a lot of people ask, ‘Oh, are you just golfing all the time?’ ‘Yeah! I am golfing quite a lot of the time.’ But that’s how I make a lot of my work come in and it’s not directly from, ‘Oh, let’s go and play golf, now give me your work!’ it’s not… it’s long-term relationship building and all of these ones that I’ve just listed off, they’re not things that have just happened in recent weeks, it’s years of relationships.

Kevin for example, I’ve known for 4 or 5 years now, him helping get my HubSpot set up and running has been really instrumental in my business growth. Paul Sykes I’ve known for as long as I’ve been in FORE Business and he’s been utterly fantastic with my IT support. And yes, he’s a client as well, same with Kevin. And it’s all because it feels right, it’s not a forced thing. It’s not like other networking systems where you have to refer – you don’t have to do anything. To be able to have that nice, woolly wraparound service that there’s no obligation to it.

So yeah, this isn’t a sales pitch for FORE Business by any stretch. I mean, it’s just a nice shout-out to show that in networking situations, relationships do grow and they open doors. Being nice to people and having cuppas does lead to working together and friendships. And long may it continue! If I actually thought a little bit more, there’s more that I could come up with and I should really go through and list all of the FORE Business related things that I’ve been involved with of late. Because there’s so many. And they’re all great.
